Beyond just showing the variety of music and sound effects that Getty Images has to offer, BBDO decided to prove it. That’s why they chose a silent film from 1922, which is already in the public domain, and created sound for it from scratch. The sound design, the soundtrack, the voices, sound effects, the terrifying atmosphere, everything. And they transformed the classic silent film Nosferatu into “Nosferatu – The Non-Silent Film.” The most iconic movie vampire of all time was given a voice. In fact, he got a lot more than that.

Photoshop Murder Mystery by Edelman San Francisco for Adobe

Through research, Edelman knew the Photoshop Facebook community loved to show off their work and had a taste for the gruesome. As Halloween approached, they saw an opportunity to tap the audience’s morbid sensibilities. The idea? A murder mystery within a Photoshop file. Fans downloaded the crime scene—a heavily layered Photoshop file—from Creative Cloud. They then co-solved the mystery over the Facebook platform, turning Photoshop into a video game.

Scary Clown Night by MullenLowe Madrid for Burger King

Everybody is afraid of clowns. Except for Burger King. To prove it, the king decided to face its fear and invite our scariest enemy for a meal. The message was simple: "Come as a clown, eat like a king". During the night of Halloween celebrations, Burger King will give away a Whopper to everyone that comes dressed as a clown.

Bite Sized Horror by All City, Fox Networks LA for Mars

October brings cooling temperatures, pumpkin flavored everything and of course, an onslaught of ghost and goblin themed content. Being spooky at Halloween is simply table stakes for advertisers. However, what people really crave during Halloween is a desire to get the adrenaline pumping with the help of haunting, bone chilling tales; twice as many horror movies are released in October than any other month of the year. If we were going to break through during October we needed to go beyond the expected and produce hair raising, cinematic quality horror content.
